Con Man or Shyster: Take Your Pick!

If I was to state that the 89-year old Reverend Pat Robertson is a 'blooming idiot,' I would be standing in judgment of the man, which is unchristian and ignoring Jesus Christ's admonishment to "Judge not that ye be judged." Therefore, I will NOT state that Reverend Pat Robertson is a 'blooming idiot.'

On October 11, 2019, Reverend Robertson, on his 700 Club 'fund raising' television program was asked a few questions regarding the death penalty, here are just a few exchanges:

Question: Why is it that the Christian stance seems to support the death penalty?
Robertson: "Are you kidding? Read the Old Testament. I tell you if a son is unforgivable and will not listen to his parents, the parents can bring him before the authorities and the son will be executed."

Question: But what about the New Testament, where Jesus prevented the woman from being stoned to death for adultery?
Robertson:  "Yeah, but that, is non-scriptural." (Note: John 7:53-8:11)

Robertson: "We spent millions of dollars on Prison care for Charles Manson. He should have been put to death."

Robertson cites communication with God when making his predictions. In 1980, 'Ears' Robertson predicted that there would be a judgment on the World in 1982. Thanks be to God that didn't happen because my Cardinals won the '82 World Series. The good man of God advocated the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez...imagine that suggestion coming from our Lord. Pat also believes Trump has a mandate from God. Wonder who told Pat that nonsense?

So, what shall be done with this lunatic who invokes the Lord's name with crazy predictions. Well, let's not judge; let Scripture speak as Robertson seems to like to do. Deuteronomy 18:20  "But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods , is to be put to death."  Now, this scripture should square with Robertson since he promotes Deuteronomy 21:18-21 "If parents have an unruly, stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his parents then his parents shall bring the son to the elders of the city and have him stoned to death."

Some might say that Robertson is unscrupulous, fraudulent and deceptive. I won't say that because it would be judging him.

I hope my kids read this blog today because a thought just came to me. Had I been one of Pat Robertson's mindless followers back in the day while parenting, there might be fewer Christmas gifts bought by Mom and Pop Roustio.
