Kudos to the Jacksonville high school girls' volleyball team for finishing 4th in the 2012 IHSA State Volleyball Finals held over the weekend on the campus of Illinois State University @ Normal.
This week it is back to the focus of putting some last minute touches to the Decatur 'Turkey Tourney' 8-Team basketball extravaganza scheduled for Thanksgiving week. My wife and I will interrupt those endeavors as we make a quick run this afternoon to the Metro-East area to visit my 93-year old mother and my wife's older sister, Jean who has recently experienced seizures; Jean has been an Alzheimer's victim for nearly ten years.
Several events the past few days cause me to remind myself of an anonymous writing that I often call upon when facing frustration with some people...perhaps you are familiar with this, if not, I offer it now:
ANYWAY
People can be unreasonable, illogical & self-centered.
Love them anyway.
If you do good some people will accuse you of ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.
If you are successful you win false friends & true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Honesty & frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest & frank anyway.
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.
People need help but many will attack you if you help.
Help anyway.
Give the world the best you have & you may get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you got anyway.
