Surprise, Surprise, eh?

Once again, St. Louis Cardinals' baseball ownership shows its ass and colors...their Ass is greedy and their color is 'green,' i.e., money.

St. Louis MLB ownership passed on any attempt to improve their National League Central Division first place team doing NOTHING before the trade deadline. Baseball Heaven ownership speaks loudly: 1) We intend not to award our team members efforts and 2) We shall snicker at Cardinal's Nation and extrodinary fan loyalty.

Meanwhile, DeWitt, Jr. may need a city tax break soon to build an annex onto Ball Park Village and it would be nice for the city to wave an ordinance allowing pipelines to deliver InBev brew products to the the Ball Park complex without truck deliveries.

Oh for those good old days of Auggie, Jr.

Talks Too Much

Recently, we have heard suggestions that the city of Baltimore, Maryland is one of the most corrupt cities in America. Hearing this claim, I did my best to research and verify. I found listings from 5-to 15 corrupt cities in America. Baltimore appears on many lists but not all lists.

Here is a composite listing of America's most corrupt cities: Las Vegas, Wichita, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, Newark, Los Angeles, Richmond, Miami, Houston, Cleveland, Baltimore and (believe it or not) Washington D.C. (Note: Washington D. C appears number one on some lists).

Now, when you examine the most 'dangerous' American cities, you'll notice that Detroit, Cleveland and (you guessed), Baltimore again made the list. That complete 'dangerous-city' list comes close to home: St. Louis, MO., Rockford, IL., Kansas City, Mo., Springfield, Mo. and Milwaukee, WI.
Add these: Albuquerque, Indianapolis, Stockton and Oakland.

If you add the population figures of these corrupt and most dangerous cities you will tally approximately 29-million people. America's total population is approximately 330-million. Since some elected leaders enjoy throwing negative terms about when defining people and places, it's natural for many to wonder what is the total combined figure of corrupt and dangerous cities added together? Finally, what total number meets the threshold qualifying America as a 'shit hole' country? And if somebody points that out will they have to leave the country?

Sorry For The Mess, Kids

I remember many men of my father's generation who would espouse the belief simply stated, 'I want my children to have a better life than did I.' When I heard my dad speak those words and this day consider those words, I cannot 'see' that I had such a bad life growing up in the 1940's and 1950's, in fact I had a wonderful youth.

As I now look at the kind of 'life' I shall be leaving to my children, especially 15-grandchildren and three great grandchildren ( to date), I and others of my generation dropped the ball. We failed the two if not all three generations following and I'm sorry and saddened.

My grandkids cannot safely ride their bikes across town in their respective communities. They are required to practice 'active-shooter-drills' in our once safe school classrooms. Holiday shopping at local malls is problematic as is eating out, attending concerts, attending a house of worship or the County Fair and Food Festivals.

Those who follow must hope they can find survival solutions for my generation's indifferent attitude towards our national debt, global warming, gun violence and racial divisiveness.

Instead of making a 'better life' for my grandchildren's' generation, I was part of effort to make 'life easier.' I helped create the now well entrenched attitude that there is instant gratification and solutions. Just push a button, grab a remote or take a pill and all your problems go away. We sold out on our youth in many ways. Childhood obesity is at an all time high and all the Heath problems which follow will cause my grandkids and great-grandkids to be more a more concerned about pharmaceutical costs and health insurance co-payments.

I apologize kids. I truly do.

Ps. I'm also sorry my generation didn't do a better job calling out bad public behavior and manners; especially amongst our clergy and elected leaders.

Easy Come Easily Dismissed

Thirty-to-forty percent of the food produced in America is wasted; not consumed. This suggests that mothers no longer tell their children to, "Clean your plate, there's kids starving in China." Then again the answer to America's propensity to not eat all their food at meal time was expressed by my father some seventy years ago. My mother had prepared a dish of liver &'onions for our family supper. My dad seemed to enjoy each bite while I struggled even with the smell much less the taste.  Finally, in frustration and curiosity I said to my father, "Do you like that stuff?" Dad looked at me puzzled and spoke, "Boy, you've never been hungry." He was correct. I had never stood in a soup line nor opened a tin of Tuna in a World War II fox hole.

I grew up more often with a belly full of foods of choice and with the options of refusal with substitutions nearby. That said, more so is the case with my children and grandchildren. Actually, the biggest change is we no longer leave foods mother prepared on our plates but walk away from  restaurant tables unconcerned about our next meal...and the next...and the next.

Today's America 'land of plenty' is observed in many areas. I am amused and yet still shocked seeing the blase' attitude regarding a 'baseball.' I played that game competitively from age 10-to-22.
The years spanned 1950-to-1962. Those baseball years could be characterized as "3-ball-games." The home team provided two brand new baseballs to the starting pitchers for warm up purpose and gave the umpire one additional baseball. Those '3' baseballs were the only baseballs to be used during a high school seven inning game. Near game's end those 3-baseballs were dirty and scuffed to the hurlers' delight who could make a scuffed baseball do more. The moral to the story? Baseball's didn't grown on trees. Today, I notice baseball's tossed  from major league games if the pitcher throws a ball that touches the ground. Some research suggests that approximately 100 baseballs are used in an average MLB 9-inning games. Thirty major league teams each play 162-games; you do the math. WOW! I remember those years playing sandlot baseball with my 12-year old buddies when we often times finished games with a broken bat held together with a screw and tape and a baseball with the cover stitches coming apart.

One thing for sure...there is no beer left in bottles at MLB games nor do you see uneaten hot dogs.
At Wrigley Field's 'friendly confines' a Cubbies' fan will spend a total of $16.00 for a beer and hot dog. Why, even a North Side yuppie knows there's a kid in Japan hungry for a $7.00 hot dog.

Oldsters Staying In-Touch

I had not talked to him for sometime so I telephoned. Now 'him' is my former roommate/teammate at Illinois State University in the late 1950's and before that my Southwestern Conference high school basketball adversary, Kenneth 'Buzz' Shaw. Buzz and I first met as high school competitors. I played basketball for the East St. Louis 'Flyers' while Buzz played for the Edwardsville 'Tigers.' The Year was 1955-56, our junior seasons. That year Edwardsville lost the IHSA Basketball State Title game to Rockford West.  Two of Shaw's Edwardsville teammates would later be the first African-Americans to start for the University of Illinois. I refer to Governor Vaughn and Mannie Jackson, who later owned the Harlem Globetrotters. Actually, U. Of I. Coach Harry Combes had a deep connection in the 1950's with East St. Louis and Edwardsville. In the early '50's sharpshooter, Billy Altenberger (East St. Louis) wore the Illini colors and towards the end of the decade, the U. Of I. public  announcer would call out three Orange & Blue starters who hailed from Edwardsville, Don Ohl, Gov Vaughn and Mannie Jackson. Billy Altenberger was later an attorney and judge living  in Peoria, Illinois whose son played high school basketball at Richwoods. Yes, Doug Altenberger followed his dad's pathway to the Fighting Illini round ball program.

Shaw and I were recruited by ISU coaches Jim Collie ( Basketball) and I was also tabbed by baseball coach Harold Frey. Shaw made his mark on the hardwoods while my greater successes came on the diamond. We roomed together two years and later I was Best Man in Buzz and Mary Ann's wedding. Buzz taught and coached lower-level high school basketball for a few years but was destined for   higher education administration. He would later serve SIUC/SIUE as President/Chancellor, Wisconsin University as Chancellor and conclude with a 17-year stint as Chancellor of Syracuse University. My wife, Gerry and Buzz and Mary Ann have stayed 'in-touch through the years and now find more visiting time to visit in these 'glide'myears. Okay, back to the telephone call.

When Shaw picked up his telephone that afternoon, I immediately realized that I had inadvertently 'face-timed' my friend. I say inadvertently because those who know me know well that if anything has more moving parts than a watermelon, I'm screwed. The one person I know who is less manually capable than I is the guy whose face is now staring at mine.

The conversation...
Buzz: "Who is that I'm seeing in my phone?"
Mel: "It's me, Roustio."
Buzz: "How'd that happen?"
Mel: "I have no idea."
Buzz: "Damn, you look old."
Mel: "I know, it's scary at this end, too."

We continued for the better part of an hour discussing things that people who look as old as us discuss. Aches & pains, kids & grandkids, politics and the state of education, which certainly  connects to today's politics more than at any other time in our nation's history.

Having solved at least a third of the nation's issues,we agreed on two things: 1) We would both attempt to research the logic behind our government leaders telling people who disagree with government policy to "leave the country" while telling people at our southern border seeking asylum "not to leave their countries." 2) We would not face-time in the future.

Calling Out Hate

I hear-tell and I recollect...
I've read in books and heard stories that black folks from Africa were once slaves in my country. I've also read reports in history books that blacks were once considered 3/4 human. Later in our nation's history those black people were freed from indentured servitude and permitted rights equal to all countrymen.

However, growing up in my America's Mid-West, I observed and witnessed how those black folks from Africa and other folks of color were treated and viewed by my white brothers and sisters. And it wasn't just folks of color who were looked upon with a wary-eye but those who spoke a different language other than English were also viewed with suspicion.

Know that those white people were good people. Hard working people. Patriotic people. And some seeking a walk with a Savior called Christ. In spite of these aforementioned noble qualities, many of those people embraced attitudes of prejudice towards folks of color, folks with a different language and culture. Ignorance and fear heightened their prejudices. Make no mistake these fears and attitudes of suspicion cuts both ways. (Today, many African-Americans hold those hateful prejudice feelings towards whites, which makes them equally ignorant). That said, white people in the 1940-'50's, ' and even today held/hold the upper hand of civic power.

Today, our President has told people of color to "Go Back Home." He has suggested folks of color are  from "shit-hole Countries." This rhetoric resonates with the fearful ignorant. Why? Because many of these people grew up in environments similar to mine. Black women could come into our white neighborhoods to do domestic work but must leave before sundown. Colored folks must ride in the back of the bus. The black men must stay away from white neighborhoods. The band of Gypsies will steal from you. The Jews will cheat you. The Irish are dirty people. Oh, my Lord do I dare go down the road of religious prejudices stoked by ignorant myths? I heard those slang words for Blacks, Italians, Irish, Polish and  Puerto Rican's.

As a young boy of 16-17, I never could understand how on the one hand so many talked Jesus but ignored His message. Is it personal with me? Damn right it's personal. I coached high school basketball for 37-years in five very passionate basketball communities. Three of those communities saw many Blacks playing significant roles in our program efforts. Understand that yours truly never hid from anything or anybody. My telephone number was always publicly printed. Call me if you wish to talk. There was a number of times I received late night calls and voice would say,  "Roustio, you're a nig^#r lover!" I remember once when a school administrator warned me that I should think twice about hosting players in my home when my wife prepared pre-game meals..."Those people might steal stuff," I was told. Really? Are you kidding me?! "Those people" were my players. Black/White, they were my guys; they were like sons to my wife and I. How dare you slander them and insult me.

As long as this President spews his bigoted hatred, I will speak out. And I will never understand those who believe in the fundamental principles of our democracy and/or those who proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord can remain silent.

The worst thing that can be said to an American of color other than being called a name is to be told, "Go back where you came from," when in fact they are American. Shameful!

Their Silence is Deafening

The President of the United States gets a pass for telling dark-skinned female congress-people to go back to countries of their origin because they criticized American policy or this President. Not only does Republican Congress-people ignore these racist comments, which is a kin to calling nations of color "shit hole Countries," but we hear people of Trump's base applaude his rhetoric and chat his slogan.

I can guarantee you that should any of those people in Trump's audience have a police officer tell one of their family members of a certain ethic origin to 'go back to their original country' that person would demand the officer's badge. If a public school teacher told a student of color to 'go back home' that teacher would be fired. Starbucks told a couple of black gentlemen waiting in their restaraunt for a friend to 'leave' and the crap hit the fan. Seems there's two standards of ethics today in our beloved country...one standard for all citizens and another for a sick mad man in the White House.

The President of our Christian nation gets a pass even from the Evangelicals...those people proclaiming the teachings of Jesus Christ...that fella who told us to "Love one another as I have loved you."

Love It or Leave It? Bull-Butter!

This blog is called a 'Rant.' Well fasten your seat belts!

I entered what would culminate in a thirty-nine year teaching/coaching career in 1962 making $4,850 while coaching three sports. My son, daughter, daughter in-law and two grand-daughters are career teachers. Obviously, they all embrace the notion that teaching is 'the grandest of enterprises.'

Just yesterday, my daughter came from Jacksonville to Decatur to join us for lunch and shop at the nearby Target Store. It's that time of year when department stores nationwide put their back-to-back school supplies on display and Target offers a 15% discount to teachers. My middle school Spanish-teaching daughter purchased over $100 worth of supplies...not for her but for her students. She will repeat this expenditure to begin the second semester. My calculation reveals a $6,000.00 out-of-pocket personal cost in her years teaching thus far; she has a few more years to go before retirement. It used to be that she could claim up to $250.00 a year on income taxes for this educational expenditure on students. No longer! I guess it was costing our government too much to continue such a 'giveaway.' Of course, we will pay farmers for NOT planting while children in America go to bed hungry every night.

Politicians on both sides of the aisle will blow-smoke up voters butts about the importance of education but once elections are over nothing much is done for educators. Teachers are treated much like first responders, i.e. Police, fire fighters, EMT, military and vets. Our elected officials and general  public will give empty verbal praise and stop short of truly supporting and advancing the cause of learning. This nation talks crap when it comes to education and our international rankings prove the point.

If you have concluded that I am criticizing our nation, then you're smarter than most of your countrymen for I sure the hell am doing just that. That said, I don't plan to 'leave' America but stay and embrace my Constitutionally protected right to call out my leaders and point out the phony stuff said by the same. Until teachers no longer have to spend their own monies for children in their classrooms, perhaps, all teachers should 'take a knee' during the National Anthem at public school events.

Oh by the way, President Trump calls out four congresswomen of color for not 'loving America' and tells them to 'leave the country if they don't love the country;' yet he got a bogus medical doctor's affidavit to state he had bone spurs on his heels and could draft-dodge and not serve our country in military. This man has a set tiny balls and a big mouth!

And Then Perhaps It's In Their DNA.

My South Barrington daughter and son in-law have seven children ranging ages 30-to-8. The 15-year old sophomore is a outstanding student, varsity cheerleader with excellent tumbling skills. She just finished her classroom driver's education classes. Her mother took her to the DMV Facility to get the teen her 'permit.' Since mom had some time, she decided to take her daughter to a large nearby church parking lot and allow the enthusiastic youngster her first behind-the-wheel practice moment.

As mother switched seats with daughter, she watched the child carefully adjust her seat, telling her mother that she should be approximately ten inches away from the steering wheel. Then the mirrors got the young driver's attention before seat-belt securing. Just before the first time driver started the engine she turned to her mom and said, "Just one question, which one of those pedals down there is the gas and which is the brake?"

As I heard this account, I could not help but wonder if there is something in our family DNA when it comes to operating a motor vehicle. I have two granddaughters who are best buddies. They roomed  together for four years at Illinois State. They are like sisters rather than cousins. At the same age 15, they were visiting their Decatur grandparents when I decided to take the two of them to a nearby high school driver's education marked lot for some practicing. As we pulled into the complex, the three of us noticed a local police squad car parked under a tree. To my surprise granddaughter Loren kept waving at the officer until he waved back (So much for inconspicuous behavior). As I watched Loren go through the behind the wheel check points, I told her to start the car and then explained when she shifted into 'drive and take her foot off the brake the auto will immediately begin to move forward. She did that perfectly. At that point, I told her to gently touch the accelerator. Loren bent forward and reached down with her right hand to 'touch' the accelerator. Today she is in her third year of medical school.

After Loren's turn behind the wheel, Erica moved under the controls. She seemed to get the hang of things rather quickly. Then we approached an intersection of the driving course that would be described as  a 'T.' Straight ahead was a tree-lined embankment with turn offerings both left and right. The soon to be 15-year old honor student looked at me and asked , "Should I turn?" Erica serves a prestigious St. Louis Law Firm as a Human Resource person.

Now, let's consider the DNA factor. My wife and I learned to drive in the 1950's. We learned to drive standard-shifting automobiles. You oldsters called them ''stick-shifts.' In the 1960's, my wife and I bought an automobile and I told her that this newer auto was an 'automatic.' She responded, "Finally, a car I don't have to steer!"

It's a Nana THANG!

Problems Found in All Countries

Our wonderful 'uniter,' President Trump last week told four female Democratic Representatives to "go back to their own countries and fix those catastrophic problems then come back here and tell us how it's done." The minority women singled out are Ocasio-Cortez (NY), Rashida Tlaib (MI), Ilan Omar (MN) and Ayanna Presley (MA). All four duly elected women are of course U. S citizens three of whom were born in America. This makes them as much if not more American than First Lady, Melania Trump.

Actually, Melania might consider returning to her native Slovenia and 'fix' decimated industries, severe poverty, out-of-control road traffic and pollution, which is causing untold illnesses, the growing public discord and the unwillingness of investors to make investments in Slovenia industry.

A racist's words only make sense to another bigoted hater. Sadly, this is America's current journey.

There are many in Trump's base who note the changing racial and ethnic demographics and it scares them to think that dark skinned people will one day make up America's population majority. Yet most of these folks are professed followers of Jesus Christ who was a dark-skinned person with tightly curled hair; a Savior who was crucified for them.  Actually, I fear many of Trump's followers believe Christ was a blond-hair, blue-eyed conservative and 'white' Americans are His chosen people not the Jews.

Explain Away Gutlessness

It is commonly reported that over 15- thousand books have been written about President, Abraham Lincoln. Only Jesus Christ has had more books penned about his life. Our first president, George Washington has nearly seven thousands books about his life and JFK rounds out the top three books about Presidents.

Those aforementioned numbers and rankings may be challenged in the near future. The Presidential subject, Donald J. Trump appears to be a most fertile book topic. Just how many books will be written about the 45th POTUS depends upon Trump serving one or two terms.

Recently, former Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan was quoted dissing President Trump in Tim Alberta's soon to be released book, 'American Carnage.' I believe it is safe to say that as time passes there will be a plethora of books profiling and discussing the governing leadership ineptness of our 45th President.

Whereas I am not a fan of this President and believe him to be a disgusting human being who berates his fellow man, speaks in vulgarities and wallows in self-aggrandizing narcissism, I nevertheless find  it cowardly of others to takes cheap shots at Trump after they leave positions in his administration.

Those who will write these negative accounts of Trump's Presidency will do so for self-serving reasons and that will be their weak attempt to exonerate their complicit behavior and  indefensible support of Trump. These morally weak people will advance theories that 'they stayed' in Trump's administration and service because they thought they could somehow guide this maniac away from worse decisions had they not been in Trump's service. These spineless power-grabbers i.e.  Lindsey Graham, Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, John Kelly, Rex Tillerson and others should never be excused for their wrongful complicity.

Courage is the ability to do something when the unknown result of your action is frightening.

America's Justice?

We've all seen her, the Lady of Justice. The concept goes back to ancient times. In many American courthouses today, the Lady Justice wears Greco-Roman garb, carries a sword to reflect her authority over kings and commoners and holds a scale, which will render true justice without passion or prejudice. A noble concept indeed that is compromised and falls short of meeting the objective stated in the last four words of our beloved Pledge of Allegience; "and justice for all."

Consider>>
Jerry Sandusky, Penn State assistant football coach convicted of sexually abusing some sixty underage boys is sentenced to a minimum of 30-years in prison. Penn State is fined $60 million, Penn State's football team banned from Bowl games and have a reduction in football scholarships. A significant number of past football victories are vacated by the NCAA and locals remove a statue of the iconic Coach Joe Paterno. The University President and Athletic Director are forced to step down.

Beloved comedian, Bill Cosby is found guilty of using drugs to seduce and sexually abuse and rape sixty adult women. The 81-year old Cosby is sentenced to 10-years in prison.

Jeffery Epstein is arrested a second time for child molestation and operating a sex trafficking business. In his first arrest, the billionaire pedophile sexually abused 36-under age girls, which resulted in a 13-month prison sentence with the stipulation that Mr. Epstein could leave the prison six days a week and be free 12-hours each day.His victims were never told of Epstein's sweetheart punishment deal.

Let me sum up America's justice system: "Money & Connections TALK, bulls*#t WALKS." Note: We need to do something about those thugs and rapists Mexico is sending us. And what about all those people of color who shoot up banks, school classrooms and concerts? And....
Don't the likes of Colin  Kaepernick and Megan Rapinoe just make you sick with their protesting...by golly "America: Love It or Leave It." What's wrong with people like that? America Is Great Again!

And Then There's Illinois

On our return trip home to Decatur, Illinois from a week's Roustio-Clan of 27- vacationing in Miramar Beach, Florida, my wife asked which of the States we traveled through I thought was the prettiest? Pondering the countryside of Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and Florida, I decided that Alabama nudged out Tennessee. With due respect given to the Volunteer State, we actually traversed the western section of the State thus did not see some of the greater hills and mountains.

Certainly, Florida lives up to its 'Sunshine State' billing, which many sunburned family members can attest. I will say this about Kentucky, the Inter-State road side maintenance is outstanding. Grasses cut deep into the tree lines and the median was immaculate. Alabama gives travelers great views of tall pines and rolling hillsides peppered with beautiful foliage sporting colorful blooms. Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and Florida all provide excellent highways and comfortable driving, although I would suspect that back in the day when the Tennessee highway engineers were designing traffic patterns through Nashville they were either drunk or mean-spirited asses.

Traveling towards the Gulf Coast, one knows they are in the South as the barren clay turns red, the pines become more plentiful,  pawn shops appear more frequently and a gun shop sits next door to a funeral home. Along the rural countryside of the South there is a stark contrast of the haves and have nots.

That leaves my Land of Lincoln State of Illinois. It causes embarrassment. Our roads (Interstate 57) is in deplorable condition. The Interstate roadside maintenance is non-existent. Grass is extremely tall in the median and alongside the shoulder. Little for which to be proud. I will tell you that Southern Illinois near Shawnee is beautiful as is the Northern area especially along the Rock River. It's just not fun traveling from one end of Illinois to the other end.

We Are Family

My wife, Gerry and I are blessed with three adult married children. We have 15- grandchildren and three great-grand children. It would be a gross understatement to say 'we are richly blessed.' I thank the Lord daily and often times frequently for family.

I suppose our family is much like most families. We have a variety of personalities and individuals with various talents and strengths. My wife and I got to know our grandkids extremely well by hosting five consecutive week-long summer Naboo Camps, which had grandkids spending the week at our home engaging in all kinds of activities. They played games, did crafts, held talent shows, went fishing, played miniature golf, did scavenger hunts, held theme-dinners, took in movies and made motorhome trips to nearby camp grounds. Needless to say, the cousins forged terrific bonds during those five summers and it remains strongly evident in their adolescent, teen and adult years.

Both my wife (Nana) and I (Boompa) continue to engage each grandchild on a one-on-one basis. We hold nothing back; our love, our concerns and certainly our advice is forthcoming whether solicited and/or unsolicited.

Sure, I have concerns for all family members. Some concerns are greater than others but I have a confidence that each will live fulfilling lives and answer the charge of our Lord when he asked that we "do for the least of my children."

This past week's family vacation in Miramar Beach, Florida was wonderful fun and truly a memory-maker. I hope all 29-family members can do it again next summer...even the 'oldsters.

The International Joke

Many Americans (count me in their midst)  have contended for some period of time that President (Trump) is a 'buffoon.' Trump is an amusing clown who said the following: "Mars is part of the Moon; China invented global warming; Listen you (China) motherf....r's, we're going to tax you 25 percent; Mexico is going to pay for a wall; Laziness is a trait in Blacks; Environmentally friendly light bulbs can cause cancer and one I especially like: A Certificate of Birth is not the same as a Birth Certificate."

Yesterday, Trump produce at a cost of 2.5 million dollars a July 4th Military celebration. Anybody knows that the oldest political stunts are to kiss babies, wave the American Flag and suggest you know Jesus better than your opponent.

During the hour long salute to the various Armed Service branches, Trump did all the narrating. At one junction Trump said that during the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783) against the British our army "seized the airports." Never mind that history books document the first successful Wright Brothers airplane flight was 1903. Therefore look for President Trump to order Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos to have America's public education American History books 'revised' according to Trump.

America's New July 4th Celebration

Today, we Americans thank our God, our Forefathers and the men and women past and present who served/serve in our Armed Forces for the freedoms we celebrate for the 243rd time.

Unfortunately, our current president rejects the idea offered by Former Presidents and particularly Former President Theodore Roosevelt who said, "Speak softly and carry a Big Stick and it will carry you far." President Trump wishes to  mimic and 'flaunt' the obscene and vulgar to satisfy his sick narcissism. President Trump obviously idolizes the dictator style governments of North Korea and Russia. He has publicly displayed his infatuation with these ruthless murderers. Oops, not to forget the Saudi Prince.

I also remember this Ugly display...

You Don't Know Me

Frequently when I observe two people in some type of heated debate or outright verbal confrontation, I will hear the phrase, "You don't KNOW me!" It is always spoken as if to tell one's adversary, 'Don't be saying THAT about me or suggesting something when in fact you have no understanding of my journey and the experiences therein!'

I have published 1934-posts on this blog page. There have been over 200,000 page viewers and thousands of comment responses. I would think that many who read my blog have a good idea how I view life in general, family, animals race relations, religion, parenting, education, youth sports, teaching and coaching and other generalities. But who truly knows ME?

I don't know the origin of the phrase 'Walk a mile in my shoes,' however I do understand completely it's reference, which is Don't 'judge' a man until you have walked in his shoes. Don't 'criticize' another's work until you've tried it. I also believe there is a subliminal, message suggesting that we should all be more empathetic and consider the other person's feelings or point of view.

As I reflect upon many of my blog, I find myself guilty of 'judging another' without his life's experiences and when I read various facebook comments and exchanges, I've concluded I am not alone. The beast within us all is quick to anger and most intolerant of 'OTHER EXPERIENCES.'
