Every time America experiences mass killings by a gunman, we can anticipate the liberals crying for more gun control while the NRA leads the fight against such controls. The NRA is very successful with its verbal shell game. First, they scare the hell out of people promoting the idea that their second amendment rights are in jeopardy because big government is poised to confiscate guns.
The other gobbledygook cry from the right wingers is that familiar phrase, 'Guns don't kill, people kill.' Of course, the debate then moves to the arguments about mentally ill folks who pose the problem not guns.
I then hear all the Republican presidential candidates hold Reagan up as some great leader. To those, I say, it was your beloved Ronnie Reagan's policies that caused the closing of State mental hospitals across this nation during the 1980's. The Federal Government stopped giving states matching Medicaid funds for Mental Hospitals, thus those facilities started closing and the mentally ill were released onto public streets.
