I say without reservations, shame on evangelical Christians that chose to support a man running for the Presidency of the United States who wishes to 'ban Muslims' from entering this Nation of Freedom. Christians, above any religious group, should well know the documented history of their 'own' religious persecution.
However, this posture should not surprise us. More often than not today, we observe believers 'cherry-picking' application of Biblical scriptures to drive a political agenda or ease some personal anger. We hear the voices anchored in the sanctity of life calling for the cessation of abortion while favoring capital punishment. Christians claim some inalienable right to have their religious documents posted in the public square and whispered pray in public schools. And all the while these evangelicals will call for the protection and enforcement of ' Constitutional laws' but ignore the protection of other faith-believers guaranteed in that very document. How selfish; how blind.
We Christian-evangelicals would do our Lord great honor to simply consecrate on His final commandment:
"Love one another as I have loved you."
