It appears the smarter we become the dumber we behave. It is irrefutable that technology has brought many positive things to our American way of life. That said, I believe it is factual that this technology
can and has produced negatives. Whereas online shopping offers great 'stay-at-home' conveniences it has also contributed to the reduction in retail sales employment and store closings.
More disturbing is the problematic safety and death events arising from auto-industry technology. In recent years, we have documented one auto-maker that had serious death causing acceleration problems while another auto manufacturer saw ignition switches causing deaths. Of course, I have checked my vin number three different times to make sure my own vehicle is not re-called due to an airbag that may explode while tooling down the Interstate.
Hey, but never to be discouraged and always seeking new ways to reduce any effort, we now notice on the horizon the 'autopilot' automobiles. That's correct! We Americans will soon be able to pack the family in the car and head out for that Wally World vacation and not have to steer the vehicle. We can put both hands on our super-sized cheeseburger, play internet games and even take naps while speeding down the highway. I'm sure this will cause untold accidents and deaths. But never mind, we are entitled!
And just think, I'm required to wear a seatbelt.
