Oh Deer, A Mystery

Last week, I was  reading the Northwest Florida Daily News and saw a photo of a large 8-point buck deer, which had washed ashore near Destine, Florida. Actually, the sight of such a big animal laying dead on a beach was surreal.

The incident has created much speculation regarding the deer's death. Upon careful examination of the carcass it was determined that the deer did not die of gun shot wounds or any other blunt force trauma, which thus suggests drowning. An autopsy is pending.

I'm thinking the autopsy will conclude drowning. This will still leave many questions unanswered. Speculation of cause is running rampant. Some locals are already claiming the deer simply went for a swim and ventured too far out from the shoreline. Others believe the buck got carried away chasing after a sweetie and became tired and drowned. Those that subscribe to that theory are keeping a vigil for a doe to wash ashore. I was surprised to hear so many people think the autopsy will reveal a drug-overdos because the college spring-breakers are not here yet.

Personally, I think the deer was victimized by worker's negligence. I'll just bet that the beach patrol guy 'put up' the WRONG COLOR FLAG.
