Changing Rules of Engagement

In recent times, I have noticed that the rules of engagement in professional baseball games and politics has changed in ways that evokes a sense of sadness and regret.

First, Major League Baseball: The 2018 MLB Official Rule Book: (Rule 406)..."No player shall fraternize with fans or sit in the stands while in uniform. Opposing players may NOT fraternize while in uniform.">>>This rule is broken everyday at every major league stadium by every Major League Baseball team. I notice opposing players conversing and laughing with opponents in pre-game warm-ups at every game. I notice hitters talking to catchers frequently. Base runners seem to have conversations with infielders constantly. Rule 406 should be enforced or eliminated. Of course, I believe the strike zone should likewise be enforced but I'll not hold my breath.

One final comment regarding fraternization: Many of the baseball pitchers of yesteryear, i.e. Bob Gibson (St. Louis Cardinals), Don Newcombe (Brooklyn Dodgers) and Nolan Ryan (Texas Rangers) let it be known that they didn't like their teammates to be 'buddy-buddy' with opposing players. As Gibson was once reported  saying, "Those other guys are trying to take food off my family's table.!"

Now, shall we take a look at the current political 'engagement rules?' President Trump's attorney, Rudy Giuliani recently said, "If Trump is impeached the American people will revolt." Revolt by definition means a people rise in rebellion. This is a NOT so subliminal message suggesting violence.
Trump, himself began his presidential campaign rallies with rhetoric that encouraged violence when he said things like, "I'll pay your legal fees if you punch him." Trump also attacks anybody and everybody who dare disagrees with him and he has done so in the most mean-spirited personal manner. He has made Jokes about adversaries' disabilities and personal looks.

With such negative political comments now common in our (governing) discourse, I encourage those reading these remarks to stop and appreciate a message from a dead man as his Memorial Funeral Service approaches. The late American war hero and long time Senator, John McCain will be eulogized at his request by Former Presidents, George W. Bush and Barrack Obama. Please consider McCain's message to the American people in making these events eulogy requests. It is McCain's plea for civility. Bush defeated McCain in a Republican Presidential primary and Obama defeated McCain in a Presidential general election. Not many men are capable of this particular level of dignity and classy behavior. John McCain's last message to Americans is in concert with the manner in which the man lived. A prisoner of war who when given the chance to be set free would not betray his fellow prisoners and thus remained captive with them. A political servant who insisted on governing by 'compromising' with his Democrat adversaries.

Above self, McCain placed Country.
