Cannot be Denied

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." Those are beautiful and flowery words found in the preamble to the Declaration of Independence. However, when those words butted up against American realities of those times, the words were gibberish-jabber poppycock. All men were NOT holders of said rights, protection or privileges.
In those times, women, slaves and non-property owners could NOT vote.

In our nation's early years, only white males with property ownership could vote. Therefore, we must imagine that the wealthy controlled laws and privileges. Overtime, women and people of color were given voting rights. Therefore, today the wealthy white guys attempt to control the nation's direction and power by making it difficult for minorities and the poor to vote. We note voting ID requirements along with manipulation of polling places, accessibility and times.

Just as our Founding Fathers talked out of both sides of the mouth, today's right-wing supporters speak with the same forked tongue on the matter of the inalienable right to vote.
