Easier to Vote If You're Simple-Minded

One day before the Illinois Presidential primary election, a voting age granddaughter shared with me that she was so frustrated with the Presidential choices that she was contemplating NOT voting. Adding to her vote-reluctance is her perception that each candidate offers a platform-plank, which flies in the face of her beliefs.

This young woman is not your atypical bleeding-heart college liberal. She is a strong-minded  academic student trying to sort through a myriad of governing philosophies and the accompanying program offerings. Her consternation and studying of issue-positions suggests that she believes there is a 'correct' answer to our vote-choice as if the process is similar to a history class final exam multiple choice question.

The American Presidential vote has never offered a 'perfect' answer. Some elections require the voter to squeeze one nostril when pulling the lever while other years beg a strong two-nostril squeeze! This is undoubtedly a two-nostril year. If you doubt this, you are one voter comfortable in your state-of-denial and no matter what others might explain to you it will not 'trump' your already made-up-mind.

My dear granddaughter: Welcome to the Reality of 'The American Dream.'
